Tooth Whitening Can Be Performed In Office Or
At Your Home

Tooth whitening is an affordable way to ensure a bright, sparkling, beautiful smile. Through time, foods and beverages create stains that darken or yellow the enamel surfaces of the teeth. These stains and discolorations can be cosmetically removed through the use of whitening agents or hydrogen peroxide compounds.

In office whitening treatments typically use highly concentrated whitening agents for a more rapid physical removal of stains. In office whitening can safely improve the color of your teeth in a single visit by lightening them up to eight shades.

The at home whitening processes uses a slightly lower concentration of whitening agents. At the start of the process, patients come into the office and are fitted for customized mouth trays. In comparison to the trays in over-the-counter whitening kits, customized trays have a more secure fit and are less likely to cause gum soreness. After the trays are ready, patients apply the whitening agents and wear the trays for several hours per day over a period of two to six weeks.

Tooth whitening is one of the safest cosmetic procedures available. However, it is not recommended for children under 13 years of age, or for pregnant or lactating women. Click for more information on tooth whitening care.
