Best & Worst Halloween Candy

Halloween Candy

Best and worst Halloween candy for your teeth

Basically, its comes down to a few simple things:

  1. The less sugar, the better… The microflora that cause cavities feed off of sugars, so limiting their access to sugar is always good.
  2. Try to avoid super sticky candies as they tend to stay on teeth longer, and yup, you guessed it… they tend to have a higher sugar content.
  3. Sour candies can be acidic and weaken tooth structure making them more susceptible to decay
  4. Avoid biting on really hard candies as they can be hard enough to chip your teeth! As always, it is important to follow the recommended hygiene schedule of brushing twice a day and flossing at least once a day.

Pro tip: swishing with water after eating/drinking in order to reduce the amount of sugars, acids, pigments that can stain teeth.
